January 22, 2008 -Tim Masters freed. Judge tosses 1999 murder conviction.

January 18, 2008 – DNA test results point to another suspect.

2007- Judge Joseph Weatherby
approves DNA testing in the Netherlands.
 
2005, Attorney Maria Liu and the state’s former public defender, David Wymore file a flurry of motions seeking access to evidence for DNA testing in Larimer County District Court, and attack Masters' conviction on multiple levels, including how police never disclosed that their records showed another possible suspect.

2004 - State appointed Greeley defense attorney
Maria Liu with the law firm of Collins, Liu & Associates, LLP, to represent Masters. Liu embraces cases involving juvenile crimes because "they're the underdogs in the legal system."

2002 - Guilty verdict upheld, 4-3. By one vote, Masters' guilty verdict squeaked by the Colorado Supreme Court on appeal. Four justices said the proceedings followed the rules. Three justices called the trial grossly unfair.

1999 - Masters convicted of1987 killing.

1998 - Masters was arrested and charged with
first-degree murder.
